Water - Intermittent Streams and Channels : Pond Pass
Sometimes the road even becomes a stream!
I've been surprised at how many people look at me like I'm crazy when I refer to the dam at the lake at Rockville. There is an earthen dam! Really!
And you can walk right across the top of the dam.
When the water gets high in the lake, it drains through a pipe.
And the pipe drains onto the Pond Pass Trail.
Eventually the water in the lake is low enough that the water stops flowing.
The ponds along the pass linger long after the flow has stopped.
Long-lasting enough to grow algae!
Eventually, only the green remains where the stream was.
